Feature Artist - Natalie Odisho

Good Day artists!! Please let us introduce us to this weeks feature artist.

Name:

Natalie Odisho

Age:

23

How did you get started in art?

My mother is an artist, and I learned the beauty of creativity from her. She would hold up headphones to her belly when she was pregnant so that I could hear music! In high school after a breakup with my first love, I wrote my a serious short-story. Writing that story helped me heal when I felt alone. Also, it built my confidence because I won a state-wide award. I was amazed by the way art could transcend words and connect with others.

Hometown:

Cocoa Beach, Florida

What types of art do you enjoy doing?

Exploring different styles is a great way to learn about yourself as an artist. I like to write, paint, and create lyrics. Now I enjoy combining my poetry with painting.

Do you have a dream project?

My dream project is Art Basel, an international show every December in Miami. The contemporary flair of artists from around the world is so inspiring!

Do you have a favorite piece of artwork completed?

My favorite piece of artwork is The Star by Degas. It is a brilliant painting of a joyful ballerina in the middle of her solo. I feel that it perfectly captures the emotion of the moment, which is what art is all about.

Is there another artist that inspires you?

I have a perception condition called synesthesia, where some of your senses blur together. In my case, when I hear music I feel colors. This makes live music concerts very really exciting!
